Saint Louis – April 10, 2013: Three General Partners from Cultivation Capital will lead a panel on Innovation in St. Louis at Washington University in St. Louis. Hosted by wute.vc and open to all WUSTL students, the event occurs this Tuesday, April 16, at 5PM in Simon Hall on the WUSTL main campus. Cultivation Capital leads St. Louis technology venture capital with Pre-A and A-round investments in companies including Lockerdome, Yurbuds, JBara, and Aisle411. The panel comprises General Partners Brian Matthews, Peter Esparrago, and Clifford Holekamp.

Saint Louis – January 15, 2013: Brad Feld, a managing director at Foundry Group and co-founder of TechStars, will remotely give a speech on building startup communities and conduct a Q&A via Google+ Hangouts. The event is being held on Monday, January 28 in Whitaker Hall Auditorium on the WUSTL main campus. Students, faculty, and startup community members are invited to attend. The event is sponsored by the Google Student Ambassador Program.
Brad is one of the managing directors at Foundry Group, a venture capital firm that invests in early stage software / Internet companies throughout the United States. [Press Release] Alexis Ohanian Kicks Off Student-Run Venture Capital Lecture Series at WUSTL
Today Alexis Ohanian, a Co-Founder of Reddit and an angel investor, spoke at Washington University in St. Louis to an audience of over 200 students. The speech marks the first event by the wute.vc student group. Alexis is touring the United States for his Internet 2012 bus tour, which aims to make open internet legislation a prominent political issue.
Alexis’ speech focused on entrepreneurship, with the aim of encouraging the students to start businesses. He discussed the journey of starting Reddit after college, what makes a successful companies, and his current activism efforts. He ended the speech by answering questions posted and ranked by students on a Reddit thread. After the event, he spoke to students regarding their entrepreneurial efforts.

Saint Louis – September 26, 2012 : Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian will open a venture capital-oriented lecture series by wute.vc, a student group at Washington University in St. Louis, with an October 9 speech on the school’s main campus. wute.vc aims to allow students to hear testimonies from venture capitalists and seasoned entrepreneurs regarding their fundraising experiences.
Alexis’ history of being in the first YCombinator class, raising seed funding, successfully exiting by selling Reddit to Conde Nast, then becoming an angel investor himself provide a comprehensive basis for discussing the role of venture capital in start-up businesses.
Alexis will speak at 4:30 PM on October 9 on the Danforth Campus of WUSTL. The specific venue is not yet finalized. wute.vc talks are open to all WUSTL students and faculty.
